The Indian stock market is expected to open in the green as trends on SGX Nifty indicate a gap-up opening for the index in India.

However, volatility could remain high ahead of the February F&O expiry, and high crude oil prices could cap gains for the indices.

That apart, NSE's three-hour outage that jolted and jeopardised the interest of many market participants is facing scrutiny by Sebi and Finance Ministry. Both the finance ministry and the Sebi have sought a detailed report from the NSE as trading was halted for several hours.

Among individual stocks, shares of Nureca will list on the bourses today. The IPO by home healthcare and wellness products provider that ran between February 15-17 witnessed 40 times subscription.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 50781.69 up by 1030.28 points or by 2.07 % and then NSE Nifty was at 14982 up by 274.2 points or by 1.86 %.

On the global front, Shares on Wall Street ended higher on Wednesday, as a selloff in technology-related stocks eased and a rotation into cyclical shares continued after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s comments calmed inflation worries.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 424.51 points, or 1.35%, to 31,961.86, the S&P 500 gained 44.06 points, or 1.14%, to 3,925.43 and the Nasdaq Composite added 132.77 points, or 0.99%, to 13,597.97.

Asian stocks perked up on Thursday after U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell reaffirmed interest rates would stay low, calming market fears that higher inflation might prompt the central bank to tighten the monetary spigot.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.90% in early trade while Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 1.37%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures rose 0.92%.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 466932 with a total turnover of Rs. 46152.88 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1116876 with a total turnover of Rs. 101548.43 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 28890895 with a total turnover of Rs. 2815894.59 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 1098797 with a total turnover of Rs. 104232.89 Crore.

The FIIs on 24/02/2021 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 9177.74 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1501.49 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 9522.95 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1036.53 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -345.21 Crore and Rs. 464.96
