Indian benchmark indices are likely to open higher on Friday. Asian stocks gained early on Friday, as hopes for a thaw in the U.S.-China trade conflict fed investor appetites for risk assets. US stocks advanced on Thursday as a published report that the United States was considering lifting tariffs on Chinese imports lifted investor sentiment. US oil prices inched higher on Friday after a report from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries showed its production fell sharply last month, easing fears about prolonged oversupply. Back home, bullish trends in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for January delivery, were trading at 10,983.00 up by 63.00 or 0.58 per cent, at 11:08 AM, Singapore Time, also indicated a positive start for local bourses. On the government front, with the country's GDP size increasing in quantitative terms, there could be need for more currency in the economy, a Reserve Bank of India official said on Thursday. Government's flagship employment generation scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Prohatsan Yojana has brought one crore workers into the fold of EPFO, thus ensuring social security PF pension and provident fund to them. On the earnings front, as many as 26 companies will report their results for the quarter ended December which include companies like Wipro, SBI Life, NIIT Technologies, L&T Infotech, Dhanlaxmi Bank, ICICI Lombard, Omaxe Auto, MT Educare and Zee Learn etc. among others.

On the corporate front, Reliance Industries Q3 consolidated profit grows 7.7 percent to Rs 10,251 crore versus Rs 9,516 crore, revenue increases 9.1 percent to Rs 1.56 lakh crore versus Rs 1.43 lakh crore QoQ. Hindustan Unilever Q3 profit rises 8.9 percent to Rs 1,444 crore versus Rs 1,326 crore; revenue increases 11.3 percent to Rs 9,558 crore versus Rs 8,590 crore YoY. US FDA begins inspection at Lupin's Pithampur unit-2, which is currently under warning letter - CNBC-TV18 sources. The 30-benchmark index closed at 36374.08 up by 52.79 points or by 0.15 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10905.2 up by 14.9 points or by 0.14 per cent.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 117.65 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 27590.51 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 275355 with a total turnover of Rs. 18751.95 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 740609 with a total turnover of Rs. 45008.69 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 28902812 with a total turnover of Rs. 1637764.86 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 745183 with a total turnover of Rs. 46293.95 Crore.

As on January 17, 2019, the FIIs stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 3928.07 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 810.20 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 3999.10 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1775.80 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -71.03 Crore and Rs. -965.60.
